![]() Which is funny, 'cause when I started playing I really thought there was no way someone could play those fat necks I think if I ever have a guitar custom made, I'd want to copy that neck. Its actually quite similar to the neck on the Melody Maker V. The neck on my Epiphone Explorer is close to perfect, not quite a thick as the neck on my Traditional (58 profile) but not far from it. I prefer a rounder neck, with some meat on it. Which is why I don't own a Tribute Plus, sadly because it is a great guitar otherwise. ![]() The biggest difference to me, and why I mostly prefer Gibsons, is the neck.Įpis tend to have a thinner, more D-shaped neck which usually gives my hands problems. Its not that they sound worse, just different. Most of that difference comes from the pickups IMHO, but even with Gibson pups there is a little difference there. In comparison, Epis sound more compressed to me, with less dynamic range and somewhat darker. Sure, every guitar is different but in my (admittedly limited) experience Gibsons in general have a more "open" sound. ![]() Even though the specs are the same, in my experience a Gibson Les Paul sounds different to an Epiphone. I think it is difficult to compare the two. ![]()
